Jim Shaw Announces Endorsement Campaign Support
HAMBURG, NY May 8, 2017 -- Endorsed Democratic candidate for Hamburg Town Supervisor, Jim Shaw, has announced the support of several respected community leaders, including former New York State Assemblyman, Richard A. Smith.
“I am honored to welcome Dick Smith to the Jim Shaw for Supervisor team and pleased he has agreed to serve as Honorary Chair of my campaign,” Shaw stated. “No one in Western New York has devoted as much of their life to public service as Dick, in 22 years as the Town of Hamburg Superintendent of Highways, six years as Hamburg Councilman-at-Large, seven years as President of the Erie County Association of Town Highway Superintendents and, of course, as the New York State Assemblyman for the 146th District for four consecutive terms. There is no doubt that Dick’s presence will provide a wealth of knowledge and years of earned experience to my campaign.”
Shaw also announced endorsements from former Hamburg Town Supervisor, Pat Hoak, and former Hamburg Highway Superintendent, James Connolly, adding to the recent unanimous endorsement of his candidacy by the Hamburg Democratic Party. According to Smith, the broad-based support for Shaw is well-deserved.
“In my lifetime, no candidate running for town supervisor has had more of the necessary experience than Jim Shaw. He knows town government. He understands town issues and he has the independence and integrity to stand up for what is right for Hamburg. Our community is fortunate to have such a distinguished citizen and honorable man step forward at a time when we must make significant decisions and meet tough challenges that lie ahead for our community.”
